Press Release

Malaysia Day dah sampai kawan-kawan sekalian! We’ve waved the life out of our Jalur Gemilang and belted out the catchy tunes of Keranamu Malaysia and Tanggal 31 at the top of our lungs this month. While we are passionate about showing our patriotism for our negara kesayangan, why not #sapotlokal and celebrate by diving into the captivating stories from some of our local creators too.

WIRA

The creators behind Paskal: The Movie delight us with yet another heart-racing story of an ex-military man who comes back home to help his family face a local thug, Raja, in Wira. Expect action-packed mixed martial arts sequences choreographed by none other than Indonesian martial artist, Yayan Ruhian, who we know and love from kickass John Wick movies.

Catch Malaysian superstars Hairul Azreen, Fify Azmi, Dain Said and more in Wira, now streaming on Netflix.

BoBoiBoy 2

The best of Malaysian films includes our favourite local superhero BoBoiBoy! The award nominated film promises a thrilling cinematic experience for the whole family as we join BoBoiBoy and his friends as they fight an ancient villain named Retak’ka who wants to take over BoBoiBoy's elemental powers.

The Ghost Brid

The first Mandarin Netflix Original filmed in Malaysia, The Ghost Bride, takes us back to 1890s Colonial Malacca where Li Lan receives a marriage proposal from the wealthy Lim Family to become the “ghost bride” to their recently deceased son. Get wrapped up in the murder mystery and embroiled in other-worldly affairs as we follow Li Lan on her journey to get out of this ghastly arrangement and save her father.

Pulang

A truly unique Malaysian production, Pulang tells of a real life love story that spanned six decades. This is a tale of heartbreak and redemption that is brought to life in vivid detail by Kabir Bhatia’s masterful direction and Zambree Haras’ stunning cinematography.

Profound and heartbreaking, the movie stars Remy Ishak as Othman, Puteri Aishah, Erwin Dawson, Azrel Ismail, Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan, and Alvin Wong.

Dr. Jason Leong: Hashtag Blessed

Our favourite doctor is back in town, this time on Netflix! A proud Malaysian moment as we celebrate yet another milestone of having Dr. Jason Leong on the roster of Malaysians on the service. Watch as he breaks down the concept of the Holy Trinity of Showing Off and how we can all benefit from having a stethoscope (or jumper cables) handy in our glove compartment.

Get ready to laugh all the way to the clinic with Dr. Jason Leong: Hashtag Blessed that will be premiering this Malaysia Day, 16 September 2020.

#SapotLokal today with these 5 Truly Malaysian shows on Netflix.
