Teamwork makes the dream work. And when the “dream” in question is millions of dollars in cash or part of a long game of revenge that’s 25 years in the making, you’re gonna need a tight-knit crew that you can trust to work together like a well-oiled machine.
Of course, you’ll also need people with a very particular set of skills to pull off the ultimate heist. Here’s our take on the five characters you’ll want to have in your corner when assembling the dream team:
1. The Brains
Usually the leader of the pack, they are the reason the heist exists in the first place. Like The Professor from Money Heist, the mastermind of the operation is highly intelligent, a perfectionist, and is likely to have planned the heist for years down to the very last detail. He is also extremely meticulous in making sure the crew “sticks to the plan” and strictly adheres to a moral code, no matter what.
Don’t let his calm and aloof demeanour fool you, though. Deep down inside, he cares deeply for his team members too.
2. The Brawn
Sometimes, even the best laid plans can go awry. That’s when you need the brawn of the operation to fight, shoot, and punch the team’s way out of a tight spot. This person may not have much to say most of the time, but you can count on them to watch your six when security guards start streaming down the hallway. Bonus points if they can’t seem to stay down no matter how many times they get hit, just like Andy from The Old Guard.
3. The Chameleon
Get you a man who can do it all.
Take Assane Diop from Lupin, for example. From millionaire gentleman and charming Casanova to a lowly janitor and funky hat-wearing tech geek, this master of disguise can blend into any situation, at any time. So much so that he can literally stroll away from the crime scene and disappear into the shadows before you can say “le collier!”
4. The Master Hacker
No firewall or security system can stop this master hacker. Like Nine Ball from Ocean’s 8, this person probably operates under a secret code name and gets super shady when you try to pry a little further. No matter though. They have, after all, proven to be reliable as your eyes and ears on the ground… with fingers that can hack through any digitally-locked door.
5. The Distraction
If there’s one thing countless heist capers have taught us, the plan isn’t always what it seems.
More often than not, there’s a misdirect that leads the crew’s enemies to focus on one thing – such as Cheddar from Brooklyn Nine-Nine stealing away with the loot – only for the mastermind to blow your minds with a totally unexpected plot twist at the end. Foiled by a corgi? We’re not even mad.
