The Visual Effects Branch Executive Committee of The Academy akan mengenalpasti filem-filem yang layak dan memilih 10 filem untuk pergi ke peringkat seterusnya dan diundi. Senarai pencalonan akhir akan diumumkan pada 23 Januari 2018 dan acara gilang gemilang itu akan berlangsung pada 4 Mac 2018
